FILM SCREENING: "Citizen Architect: Samuel Mockbee and the Spirit of the Rural Studio"

  • Space 15 Twenty 1520 N. Cahuenga Blvd. (map)

At the Pop-up shop for Craft & Ingenuity we're all about inclusiveness. It is in this spirit that we bring you the story of Samuel Mockbee, an architect, educator and artist whose philosophy emphasized the need for community, sustainability and affordability.

“Architecture has to be greater than just architecture. It has to address social values, as well as technical and aesthetic values. On top of that, the one true gift that an architect has is his or her imagination. We take something ordinary and elevate it to something extraordinary.” -Samuel Mockbee

Join us as we screen Citizen Architect: Samuel Mockbee and the Spirt of the Rural Studio! This documentary explores the work of the late architect Samuel Mockbee and the Rural Studio - the experimental design/build program he founded in west Alabama.
